A Day in the Life of Fitness: MizzFIT
By Nealeigh Mitchell
June 28, 2012
No one knows the New York fashion and fitness scene better than MizzFIT. When she’s not reporting for her blog or schmoozing with professional athletes, she’s racing through the city streets trying to get her workout on. Could you hang with this fitness couturess? 7:30 AM: My alarm sounds. I snooze it once…twice…thrice.
8:30 AM: Time to sweat at Refine Method in Union Square. For me, this class is the perfect blend of strength training and cardio. Everything gets toned, nothing bulks up. 10:00 AM: Shower, blow dry, moisturize, and coat myself in spf. I spend a few minutes picking out my transitional sportswear outfit for the day. It has to be something stylish that lends itself to work and workout. [How to Stylishly Prep for an Amazing Race] 10:30 AM: Stroll through the Meatpacking District to my office (MizzFIT Headquarters)…it’s only 2 blocks away from where I live. Convenience is key when you’re an entrepreneur, plus I just love the area. 10:45 AM: I post the latest fitness fashion updates on MizzFIT.com and schedule editorial in the works. 11:15 AM: Time to dial-up Cherie Lily for her Celebrity Sweat interview on MizzFIT.com! Cherie is a fitness trainer turned singer/dancer whose music is all about fitness. I asked her for an interview because I dig her style, creative concept and because I think her story will empower my readers. 11:45 AM: Taxi! I jump in a cab with my intern and head over to Times Square for the Athleta Mind Over Madness Yoga Solstice event in the middle of Times Square. There’s a press mat waiting for me. 12 PM: The entire event is being broadcast on a humongous screen overhead and live-streamed online. I snap shots of the yogi-crowd on my iPhone and then tweet them out. 1:30 PM: All stretched out, my trusty intern Emily and I head to the Met for some grub and AC at the Petrie Court Café. I order the tricolor beet salad. 2:15 PM: There’s a fantastic installment on the rooftop called Cloud City by Tomas Saraceno. We head up there to brainstorm and prep for the press preview that’s next on my list of to-do’s. I love doing work in creative environments. 2:45 PM: I hail a cab to zip us to Chelsea where we arrive fashionably late to Under Armour’s press preview for the launch of their new run shoe called UA Spine. Athletes Lindsey Vonn, Tom Brady and Kemba Walker are all there to endorse the shoe line. I score an interview with Olympian skier Lindsey Vonn. She shares her best fitness fashion tips and running experiences with me. 4:00 PM: My agent Evan Morgenstein from PMG Sports calls. We catch up and talk about potential sponsorship opportunities for MizzFIT. 4:30 PM: Back to the office, finally! What a day. My intern and I type up our notes while sipping on refreshing cocktails of Sprite and blackberry juice. Emails are answered and tomorrow’s workday scheduled is ironed out. 8:30 PM: Greenwich Grill is where I finally wind down for a romantic dinner. The food here is Japanese-Italian fusion. I order the Sea Urchin and Clam Spaghettini which is fantastic. 12:00 AM: Goodnight, world. Looking to get styled, motivated, and sexy with the hottest fitness fashion trends and tips? MizzFIT has you covered!
