Global Good Challenge Turns Activism into a Social Game

They say doing good is its own reward, but sometimes it’s nice to get a little something extra for your passion and activism. Today the United Nations Foundation launched its largest and most ambitious digital initiative to date: the Global Good Challenge, which rewards participants with unique prizes for “donating their voices” by taking action and engaging their online networks to support the United Nations’ work to address some of the world’s toughest challenges.

How It Works:
Now through mid-November, global citizens can sign up for the Global Good Challenge on Facebook, and join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram: #GlobalGood and @unfggc. Individuals will raise awareness and take action to help the United Nations prevent malaria with Nothing But Nets, empower girls with Girl Up, and protect children from preventable diseases with Shot@Life. Participants in the Global Good Challenge will earn the ability to enter prize raffles by taking actions such as watching videos, taking quizzes, voting on opinion questions, and sharing educational and inspirational posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Why It Matters:

  • Every 20 seconds a child dies from a vaccine-preventable disease
  • Nearly 1 million people die each year from malaria
  • More than 1 billion people worldwide have no access to electricity
  • Approx. 10 million girls under the age of 18 are married every single year against their will

These stats are striking but they’re not set in stone. Committed global citizens are making a difference throughout the world, but there is more work to be done. Each of us play a role in helping the United Nations create a healthier and happier world. We encourage you to use technology and social media to take action and help.

Prizes: A few of the great prizes in store for those donating their voices include: VIP tickets and backstage passes to a Lady Gaga Concert, tickets to MTV’s 2013 Video Music Awards, VIP tickets to the UN Day Concert featuring Stevie Wonder, attending a taping of “The Celebrity Apprentice”, and a NASCAR experience with the Target Racing Team.

You’re Tweeting and Facebook’ing already, so why not send a few that could save a life.

Take action today!
